Wyndham Conniff - Director, Newport Credit Union, Wales
After completing over 20 years in the British Steel Technical Department at Llanwern Steel Plant, Wyndham has held senior positions in the voluntary sector in which he continues to take a keen interest. He served as Assistant Director of the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations for a period of 15 years, supporting the development of voluntary organisations that included children and young people, families, adults and young people with a disability, minority groups, mental health and substance misuse until his retirement in 2007. He then joined the Board of Newport Credit Union in South Wales where he has served as Chair and Vice-Chair and continues to be a Director today. Wyndham was elected to the Board of ACE in 2011 during which time has attended and represented ACE at meetings with the Welsh Government, the PRA and FCA and the National Credit Union Liaison Group.
David Eadie - Director, Falkirk District Credit Union
David has been a self-employed owner taxi driver for over 20 years. His interest in the Credit Union Movement began in 1995 when he became a Board member of the recently registered Falkirk District Taxi Trades Credit Union. The Taxi Trades Credit Union then merged with Westquarter Credit Union in 2007 to form what is now Falkirk District Credit Union. Positions held on the Board include being a Member of Loans Committee, Assistant Treasurer, and Treasurer, Money Laundering Officer, Vice Chairman, Chairman. He has also represented his Credit Union at numerous ACE Annual Conferences and attended other seminars, meetings called by the regulators and other Trade bodies. David is currently Chair of Falkirk District Credit Union and a member of the Treasury Team at West Lothian Credit Union.
Sue Gurney - Director, Clivey Credit Union
For the past 35 years Sue has worked in a variety of jobs for Esso Garages. Her roles have included managing a number of garages and responsibility for health & safety of all garages in the South West of England. She is currently the training officer with responsibility for ensuring all staff are up to date with current policies and procedures. Sue has been involved with the Clivey Credit Union for the past 16 years and has had a variety of roles including being the Money Laundering Officer and currently Assistant Treasurer. She has also been actively involved with the Swindon Credit Union Forum for the past 16 years. She has attended the ACE Conference on behalf of Clivey Credit Union for the past 10 years.
Bill Hudson - Director, CEO
Bill has been involved in the development of credit unions in Wales for more than 25 years, starting initially with Barnardos, where he worked for 6 years before moving to the Wales Co-operative Centre (WCC). He worked for the WCC supporting credit unions for a period of 14 years, the last two of which were spent on secondment to the Welsh Government as Financial Inclusion Strategy Manager, where he was responsible for delivery of the Welsh Government’s first Financial Inclusion Strategy. In 2010 he became Programme Manager for the Welsh Government funded All Wales Credit Union Support Programme, working for the Social Investment Business. Over a four year period he led a small team of advisors providing a business support service to credit unions in Wales and overseeing a £4m budget. He has been the Chief Executive Officer of ACE Credit Union Services since October 2014.
Jane Jewitt - Director (ACE Vice-Chair), Carlisle Credit Union
Jane has been a board member of Carlisle and District Credit Union since 2002, when it was a study group, and became chair in 2003. The Credit Union is thriving and celebrated its 10 year anniversary in October 2014. Since November 2012 she has served as a volunteer director of Northern Money Ltd, an organisation supporting the credit unions of the north east and Cumbria. It facilitates the sharing of best practice and a collaborative approach to credit union development throughout the region. Jane has been a director of ACE Credit Union Services since May 2014. Prior to her work with credit unions, Jane worked as a senior Occupational Therapist in Mental Health Services in Dumfries and Galloway. She is currently a director of St. Aidan's Allotments Ltd, a large self-managed allotment site in Carlisle and works as a holiday cottage letting agent in the Scottish Borders.
Nancy MacGillivray - Director (ACE Treasurer), West Lothian Credit Union
Nancy’s involvement in credit unions began in 1997 when discussions were held about setting up a local credit union. North Livingston was given permission to issue loans in 1998 and subsequently became Livingston Credit Union trading as West Lothian Credit Union where she holds the position of Chair. She was present at the inaugural meeting which constituted ACE Credit Union Services and she became a Trustee at the AGM held in Livingston in May 2007. Her background was as Business Manager for General Medical Practices, following that she became General Manager of the South Lanarkshire Credit Union Network, a charity set up to support, develop and promote seven credit unions in the local authority area. She then was appointed as Credit Union Development Worker with Falkirk Council to assist four credit unions in the authority’s area in further development. Nancy stopped working in 2011 due to her husband’s ill health but continues to volunteer with the credit union and with ACE.
John Richards - Director, Newport Credit Union, Wales
John has recently retired after 10 years as the Manager of Gateway Credit Union in South Wales. In previous lives he has been a Production Engineer, VSO Small business advisor in Sri Lanka, opened two successful record stores, a mail order business and a record label. He currently sits as a Director on the Board of Newport Credit Union.
Malcolm Richards - Director (Chair), Falkirk District Credit Union
Malcolm is a retired Local Government Officer. When elected to the Board of his Local Co-operative Society he was the youngest member ever to be appointed. He is an active member of NALGO and later UNISON where he held the position of Branch Vice-Chair, Welfare Officer and Treasurer. He is also active in the work of the ex-service community holding various positions within The Royal British Legion Scotland at Branch, County, Area and National levels. For over 15 years Malcolm was an elected Member of Grangemouth Community Council and Secretary to that body. He is currently Director/Secretary of Falkirk District Credit Union.
Alan Robson - Director, North Tyneside Employees Credit Union
Alan has worked for North Tyneside Employee Credit Union as Credit union Officer (Members & Policy) since 2013. Prior to this he worked for his local authority North Tyneside, dealing in all aspects of local authority housing including compiling and submitting bids for Government funding, managing and regenerating the Meadow Well housing estate. Latterly he was responsible for producing and delivering the local Community Safety Partnership Strategy. He was also the local authority representative in partnership meetings with the Police, Fire & Rescue, Probation Service and Primary Care Trust. He line managed up to 30 staff. Prior to this Alan served for a period of 10 years as an RAF policeman, serving in Northern Ireland, Muscat and Oman, & Gibraltar; where he was responsible for the security of aircraft and personnel and the control of secure areas. Alan is also an active volunteer in his local community where he has worked as a primary school governor for 27 years, an independent Adoption Panel member, and as a trustee of the Wallsend Memorial Hall for 20 years. Alan is an independent director of the Credit Union Foundation.
